46. Thrupp + Summers House by Clare Design #105architecturalinspirations

I love a project that has a unassuming exterior and a BLOW YOU AWAY interior. This one is especially nice as the architects, Clare Design, Used industrial materials to create a warm and inviting home.

The juxtaposition of block, wood, steel, and corrugated metal create a beautiful harmony of materials. The curving roof structure opens the space and bounces light allowing for a bright interior in the midst of a wooded lot.

In particular I am drawn to this home design because of the simplicity of form. It is elegant without being extravagant. This soft touch using design to shape the experience is rare in today’s design world.

#105architecturalinspirations is a collection of architectural details, buildings, and spaces that inspire me. I am taking on the challenge of finding two projects to spotlight each week in 2015. Hopefully I will be able to keep up and this process of discovery will push me to create better design solutions for my clients as I research and learn more about those projects I enjoy most. I challenge you to add your comments below about this project and to post your own inspirations for all to enjoy.  Full List of previous #105architecturalinspiration posts 1 – 20. First 20 architectural inspirations here21.
