2019 Senior Expo
Are you coming to the 2019 Senior Expo this Sunday, March 17, from Noon – 3 p.m.? I will be speaking at the event at 1 p.m. and would love to see you there. This event will feature free health screenings, giveaways from local vendors, door prizes, live music by Mr. Ed and Winnie to include hits from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, and much more.
The presentation I will be doing is “Live at Home for a Lifetime – Home Modifications to Age in Place.” My goal with the presentation is to help offer some simple solutions to modify your existing home to make it safer, comfortable, durable, and healthier so that you can stay in the home you know and love. We will talk about technology that can be added to the home that might be to your benefit or to your caretakers benefit.
One of the things that is often not considered in aging-in-place homes is the comfort and efficiency of the home. As we age, I know this from experience, comfort levels and tolerances change. You want a home that can feel warm in the winter and cool in the summer, but you also have a fixed income. This makes an energy-audit a great solution. The audit can identify simple changes you can make around your home to reduce energy bills, increase comfort, and improve durability.
